Leon has always been keen to use his own experiences as a sports professional and now a business professional to improve the lives and opportunities of others. He became actively involved in charity and fundraising during his playing career, and continues to be an active ambassador for The Prince’s Trust, Action Deafness and Switch The Play.

“If I can help in any way to provide an opportunity and some much-needed guidance to others to hopefully change the course of their lives then I will do what I can in return for what others did for me many years ago.“

Having become a Patron for Action Deafness in 2017 Leon, along with his fellow Patrons, aim to raise the profile and increase the support available for the deaf community.

Initially inspired by his daughter who taught him basic sign language that she was learning so she could communicate better with one of her classmates, Leon was delighted to be invited to become a Patron of such an inspiring charity. Leon has been an ambassador for The Prince’s Trust since 2004 and remains committed to helping the charity raise awareness of the work it does to change the lives of young people.

Leon has also joined the Princes Trust Business Mentor Programme, which was established to help those from varying backgrounds who are desperately trying to change their own lives for the better by setting up their own businesses and becoming self-employed.

As one of the Co-Founders and CEO of the Switch the Play Foundation, Leon led the UK’s first charity focusing on assisting athletes and members of the military with their transition and development into the next phase of their lives.

Having successfully transitioned into the world of business himself, Leon has been able to physically implement all he has learnt as part of his professional rugby career and excellent academic achievements to assist athletes in preparing for their move out of sport and into the corporate world.
